Celebrating 20 Years of Wildlife Wonder at Darling Downs Zoo
The Darling Downs Zoo is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025.
Visitors can see a variety of animals including ducks, lizards, swans, pelicans, koalas, wombats, kangaroos, ostriches, dingoes, emus, waterbirds, turtles, and tortoises. The zoo participates in preservation programs for numerous species such as Sumatran tigers, Emperor tamarins, Cotton-top tamarins, African lions, zebras, giraffes, stilts, bilbies, Noisy Pittas, Regent Bowerbirds, Rose-crowned Fruit Doves, and more.
It's the only zoo in Queensland where you can see African Lions, White Lions, Servals, Addax, a Pygmy Hippopotamus, and the largest family of Hamadryas Baboons. They also have herds of zebra, Blackbuck Antelope, and Aldabra Giant Tortoises.
The Darling Downs Zoo property is also a sanctuary with free-roaming native wildlife. Visitors are not permitted to bring their own animals into the zoo, including pets, service or assistance animals, and animals in care.
Donations over $2 are tax-deductible as the government has approved the Darling Downs Zoo Species Preservation Fund as a charity.
