Von Benediktinerkloster zur heutigen Schule: Die Geschichte des Klosters Blaubeuren
Blaubeuren Abbey was a Benedictine monastery until the Reformation. The first abbot and monks came from Hirsau Abbey. In 1563, the first Protestant abbot was appointed, and a choir school opened in 1565. By 1817, Blaubeuren became a Protestant seminary with a boarding school, which remains operational today except for a closure during World War II. The school now collaborates with the similar establishment at Maulbronn Abbey. Blaubeuren is located at the foot of the Swabian Jura, west of Ulm. The city consists of the core town and 18 other villages, hamlets, farms, and individual houses. Blaubeuren is on the Ulm–Sigmaringen railway line and is the seat of the church district Blaubeuren within the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Württemberg.
